Do democrats tend to lean more toward pro choice?

My brother and I are having a bit of an argument!

I am a first year college student- and my argument is that the democratic party, and members of, usually tend to be PRO-CHOICE.I RARELY see a pro life democrat.

He is a 3rd year college student at UCLA- and his argument is that REPUBLICANS tend to be PRO CHOICE.

He thinks that I am wrong because I am bringing the church into the matter- when all I was trying to explain was the fact that more republican voters practice faith because of the g*y marriage issue.

Anyways. What is the correct answer?

So what political party is MORE pro choice?

Any scholarly links would also be appreciated(no wikipedia!)

Thank you.

  1. They have no problem with abortion, it's only killing murderers that they're not okay with.

  2. To those that answer Republicans are not "pro-choice" is to label all the different types of Republicans as "pro-life" which they are not. Many types of Republicans such as the corporate and business ones don't care at all of life or choice.

The Democrats on the other hand are mostly all unified in "Pro-Choice" and not "Pro-Life". The moral Republicans are for "Pro-Life" and for choice in choosing adoption and contrapcetion rather than disolving little Joey's brains while he's on the way out.

  3. Dagwood's answer is correct.

Democrats are generally pro-choice and Republicans are Pro-Life.

  4. Dems are definitly pro infanticide by a large margin.More Republicans are evangelical christians and are pro life.

  5. Pro-choice is a liberal view of the abortion issue. But not all Democrats (or liberal) believe it, just like not all Republicans (conservatives) believe in Pro-life. It's just one of many, many issues.

But, in a generalized view of the two sides, yes they are pro-choice.

  6. Democratics are generally pro- choice. Republicans are generally pro -life.  Please please understand the basis for this difference.  Democrats would like to rule themselves, rule of the people.. as Republicans: wouls rather a rule by the Republic.  Would you like a society that chooses as individuals what is right or wrong by the basis of thier own morals or one that is  ruled by what the law distinguishes is moral?

Motrality is a personal relationship within one's self, not that  whichi s determined by the upper class, higher educated and enforced by laws made by those who govern.  Take the Netherlands for example, they have the lowest crime rate yet, fewest laws and most peaceful society.  I believe that it is a womans right to choose, however i believe abortion is a sad thing.  I do not believe it is a government issue to  punish me /for having one, doing drugs, selling my body, etc.... that is between me and my God.  Should the government inforce that which is .moral? Please research your politics...

  7. Well I'm a 5th year student (Graduate) and UCLA is way off. The Republican party is extremely non-pro-choice. They are conservatives and religion has to enter into it because Republicans base their reasons on their religious beliefs. Democrat's are as a group, with a few exceptions pro-choice and do not push nor judge on religion.  Remember that Democrat's are liberal, and Republicans are conservative. Conservatives don't want nor desire change, while  liberals believe in the freedom of choice and change. Look up the words on google.

  8. Both pro choice,   as the Choice is still the main element of the fight and just watch where it will lean on.  Brother & Sister, don't fight for nothing as you get nothing on where it lean on.
