I have about 3 small cavities, they don't hurt but sometimes they do hurt it goes back and forth. The dentist wants to put some filling on it.

i am not sure i want that. Doesn't filling make it worse. cause it seems to me they will have to make a hole. Do filling really work? do they stop a pain or help at all

  1. The cavities will continue to grow and you'll lose your tooth if you don't get the cavities filled. The dentist will remove the decayed part of your tooth and fill it in. It is the best thing to do. It will stop the pain (there's a hole in your tooth and the nerve is exposed) and it will help you keep your teeth.

  2. Filling won't make it worse. They'll stop the cavity from getting worse. The denist will numb you, and fill them. It does get loud due to the drill but it doesn't hurt and I'd get them done before those cavitites get worse.

  3. i have 4 fillings and it doesnt make it worse it makes it better.they do make a hole so they can but the filling in there but that dont hurt and it stops the pain and ur tooth dont hurt anymore !!

  4. Yes, fillings work.  Basically, a cavity is a rotten part of your tooth.  In order to stop the rot from spreading, the dentist will drill it out and put a filling in.

A good dentist will numb the area so you won't feel any pain when he/she does the procedure.  You may have some slight pain when the drugs wear off - take a Tylenol.

If you don't get them fixed, the pain from the cavities will get worse, your teeth will get worse and will eventually either fall out or have to be pulled out.  Save your teeth while you can - dentures are not a good idea.

Brush your teeth 2-3 times a day, floss once a day, use a flouride rinse.

    Good Luck!
