The person who answered as "evoc_instructor" provided the best answer so far. It's acually what happened. Will this (and the other) detentions show up in my criminal record. If they do, what does this mean?

Thanks.

  1. Every time you are 'detained' or arrested or have a close encounter with law enforcement where a report is made it goes on your record 'in house'. If you are fingerprinted it goes on your public record

  2. While techinically you were "detained" while the officer was talking to you, this is classified as an investigative stop.  Nothing will go on your record.  This happens thousands of times daily across the US.  The officer does not write anything up and the issue is dead.
