Do different SAT NAVs advise the same route (assuming the maps are up to date)?

I use Googlemap to plan a route, and also a SAT NAV but I was wondering why it suggests a different route to Googlemap. Usually, Googlemap suggests a simpler route. Since I have only used one SAT NAV, I don't know whether all SAT NAVs suggest the same route. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I believe they do, unless instructed otherwise. I know Google maps often advices some odd routes at times.
