i know many say it is racist, but there is some evidence supporting that black people on average are faster and are not as good at swimming as whites, i believe all races are equal, but could there actually be a physical difference (not an inferiority)

  1. well of course there's different physical abilities in races. but, any body can do what they like if they put their mind to it.

  2. Yes, there are differences between the races, just as there are differences between the sexes.  How much is learned and how much is an inherited trait is a matter of debate.  "All men are created equal" does not mean that all have the same abilities or traits, it means that all have equal value and should be treated with equal respect and given equal rights.

  3. Your question is interesting. Yes different race may able to have different physical abilities and add to that the environment too makes a difference.

  4. Yeah.

Black people are strongest and hugest

    then White

    then Asian...

    I'm so weak! :))

  5. Somewhat true.

I agree they may be faster, but they need to exercise and train to maintain that shape.

    Nuff said.

    :D

  6. Difference with in groups is always MUCH greater than differences in averages between them. PEOPLE vary. But not by race, per se.

Here's the American Anthropological Association's blurb on race:

  7. I don't believe that persons of different races have different physical abilities. I think it has to do with the environment where they live in and their culture and that of their country. For e.g in America there are black persons who has the potential to swim as well as white persons but perhaps the school they go to don't offer swimming lessons or some black students may not be interested in it because it is not a typical black sport for them and perhaps they are not getting enough encouragement to do so. Also some may not be able to afford swimming lessons and don't have a pool at home at their disposal. However I must state that despie that America has black persons now who can swim really well. In the Caribbean however it is very different. A lot of black people can swim really well because they live or grow up near rivers and seas. And as a result they are great swimmers. A lot of persons have also said that black persons can't do sports involving snow. But it is not because of their race but it is because most black persons don't live in areas where there is a great amount of snow. Look on basketball. A lot of black persons do well in that. I don't think it has to do with them being black. I think it has to do with their environment where they come from and their culture. For e.g many black persons play basketball from the time they were young in comparison to white children. That is why a lot of them are excellent players. Basketball is deemed to be a black sport and that is why a lot of black children play it. That is what they are used to. In Athletics it is the same thing. A lot of black children do running and that means therefore that when they get older they run really well. Especially when you look at Africa and the Caribbean the climate is condusive to running. There is a lot of sun and oftentimes a lot of Africans and Caribbean people walk long distances to school, church and other places. And as a result because of that they end up producing excellent runners because their body is getting good excercise everyday. Not everybody in Africa and the Caribbean walk to school as a lot of persons drive, take the bus etc but even when they have motor vehicles they still do a great deal of walking.

  8. There are changes but they are based on micro-evolution, not just racial differences.  Long-twitch muscles, which many blacks have (witness the Kenyan and Ethiopian wonders at the Olympics) have evolved as many of their ancestors had to run long distances.  Slaves brought to the new world had differences b/c those who lived had certain characteristics that allowed them to live while others died.  While slaves, many black women were "bred" to large white men (often the owners) or large, muscle-bound black slaves to create better workers (disgusting but true).  So there are reasons that don't seem so obvious.

  9. I don't think so.  My fiance is White and he plays basketball, he can dunk, shoot 3's etc and was in the semi pros and could have went to the NBA but didn't because his mother was dying of cancer.

Now, the guy across the street from us is black and he doesn't even know how to shoot a basketball and he is a lawyer.

It's funny because they talk about it all of the time.  It might be because the black guy was adopted by a white family and my fiance has always hung out with black people.  lol.
