Do disturbed Wasps/Bees chase you down?

I have a hornet nest in the crack of some bricks by my window. I blew at the opening were the wasps go in and out of and all of a sudden about 50 of them came out and were flying around aggressively. I quickly shut the window. Then I started to freak out because I have an exhaust fan by the window and pictured hundreds of wasps flying into my house to come after me!!! That didn't happen, but it got me thinking.

  1. Hornets usually won't mess with you unless you p**s them off. Bees, too. They're pretty laid back. But, yellowjackets will hunt you down like a dog and chase you 'til you drop. They'll sting you just for meaness' sake.

  2. From what I have seen, they won't chase you down, but if you stay too close and they can still recognize you, they'll defend their hive.  If you aren't a threat to them, they'll leave you be.

p.s. don't tick off the hornets....  They're big, and mean.
