Any small venomous spider for that matter.

If yes, what would I do?

If no, why?

  1. Hmmm, yes it could be possible. But I dont know if the type of spider matters. I found this on the internet just now it's a vet answering a quesiton for a person,

    Hi Simon.

Yes, it is very possible for your cat to get poisoned from ingesting a poisonous spider.  I would definitely call your veterinarian immediately and get him in for treatment.

I am unfamiliar with redback spiders and fortunately, where I live, poisonous spiders aren't an issue, so I am unsure of what treatment would be given to your cat.

Please let me know how he does,

    Hilary

I would call the vet. :] GOOD LUCK.

  2. Yes, very much so, it affects dogs just like humans.  He needs to be taken to the vet immediataly.

Also, go and get a first aid kit which is also highly effective on animals too.

  3. I'm not sure so don't take my word for it. But since the spider carries the toxin in him and your dog swallowed it, he swallowed the toxin.

I believe when the spider bites he puts the toxin directly in the blood stream but when it's ingested it may be less serious.

That's a difficult question and I think some Vets will not know the answer either.  I'm not sure who you can call to find out. Try searching for "ingesting poisonous spider"
