Do dogs purposlely hold on to stool?

i will see my female J.R about to have a bm and suddenl sloop back in it goes. ithink she does this to stay out longer

LOl  LOL    They are pretty smart. Maybe she does if that's the only time she gets to go outside

By stay out..you mean outside?  Let your dog stay outside for a while, even try playing with her for a while outside. I'm assuming you've already did a inspection of the yard to make sure there isn't anything bad for her to get into.

She might even feel awkward with you watching her do her business.

Of course you should let your dog out to go potty but try letting her out to play or enjoy the outdoors for a while. Dogs don't like to be cooped up inside all day.

Try also turning your back or turn your attention to something else when she's going to go potty instead of watching her.
