  1. No but they are guarenteed the money. And when they are signed they are usually good enough to stick around.


  2. No. Every player in training camp has a contract. Just because you have a contract doesn't mean you cannot be released/cut.  

  3. no, but if a 1st or 2nd or even 3rd rounder has to get cut, then the GM looks awfully stupid for drafting him. thats why you rarely see high draft picks get canned. usually it is undrafted FA or 6/7th rounders that get cut.  

  4. No, they have to fight for a spot--no one has a guaranteed roster spot.

High draft picks (1st and 2nd rounders) who sign very lucrative contracts, yes.  No one is going to waste a 1st round pick and sign that guy to a long term deal worth millions with millions in guarantees and then cut him.  I would say that anyone picked mid third round or later is fighting for a roster spot.
