Do dragon flies do anything to you other than fly around and annoy you?

do they bite you or anything? there are so many near my house lately and they are gross

&& they fly around and eat bugs.

dragon flies are AWESOME they feed on mosquitoes and black-flies and if they are not around they will feed on other annoying flying pests they are way better then bats for mosquito control and are way nicer looking.Their water bound larval stage also feeds on mosquito larva so what more could you ask for from them.Why is it when simple minds cannot understand something its annoying why not allow nature to do its thing and just enjoy them.

But more importantly, yes, they do stuff other than fly around: they eat tons of mosquitoes!

Dragonflies normally feed on the wing. However, While I was working on one project, the mosquitoes were so thick, the dragonflies landed on us and walked up to the mosquitoes to grab them and eat.

Dragonflies feed on the wing.  If they are flying around you, it's because there are other insects flying, such as mosquitoes, gnats, and flies.  

It's a shame you consider dragonflies as gross.  They remind me of helicopters, but beautiful.  They come in a variety of colors--red, green, yellow, brown, blue--and they are quite fascinating.  No other insect can maneuver as well as they can.  Just as many people are into bird watching, there is a growing number of people who are into dragonfly watching.

They do eat other insects. They would hardly be called gross.
