Ok so i have heard arguements on both sides. What are dreams exactly? Are they just what you are thinking at the time? Do they have some significant meaning? Can they really tell the future? I see a lot of dream dictionaries that say stuff like "if you dream of a spider, them that stands for money" Blah Blah Blah. Im just very curious...... I have very very weird dreams, but i just think it is because i have an over active imagination. Or do they mean something?

  1. Sometimes dreams mean something and the other times they don't mean anything - at least nothing as significant as telling the future. (Although, there are some rare occasion when a person has that ability. RARE). Dream is just a reflection of our life experienced... the affect on our psyche. Here's what I also wrote to another who basically is in the same category of your question.

You might say (or at least the theory of Carl Jung, psychologist) dreams are a vital, dynamic source of healing, teaching and life guidance. It is a way of trying to heal our body and our psyche from our daily waking life. It is somewhat a filter of our psyche. It helps us or gives us a clue how to balance our life consciously or subconsciously. This is often true to recurring dreams.

Often time it's just information that is being process in our mind from when we are awake. Just like when you can see dogs having a dream of running, and they would sort of recreate the movement while they are sleeping.

It can help sometimes release some emotions - just like when we wake up happy or even sad after a dream, without even knowing what the dream is all about or why.

Those are just some of the theory that I think make sense.

  2. Hi!! Most dreams that you think are telling you the future are in fact the happenings of the past. Thoughts you had, ambitions that were un-fulfilled. Some will go right back to your upbringing as a child.

It is impossible to dream of future projections.

They mean that the subliminal mind is clearing out the dross it no  longer wants to keep.

  3. I do believe that some dreams have prophetic properties (sometimes they have very clear visions of warning), but dream interpretations are different for everyone.  A snake in a dream to me can sometimes be a good sign, while others would see it as bad.  It is all in the symbolism and what those symbols mean to you.  You have to really look at what stands out and what that thing means to you, what the colors were, the general feeling of it.   Look at this...you see a horse running free through a field and it all feels wonderful and happy...perhaps it means your seeking freedom or should be  breaking away from something in your life...its all in what the symbols mean to you alone.  Dreams do have other uses as well.  They are a way for our unconscious mind to let go and release anxiety or stress.  The REM state is important for continual mental health, while deep sleep actually allows the body to regenerate or to heal.

  4. Actually yes dreams do have a meaning but not the kind of meaning you may think...

many people look for dream interpretation of symbols like if a shark appears in a dream it means <insert theory here>...

However dreams are connected with emotion... to understand the meaning of the dream you simply need to understand how you feel about the circumstances happening in it at the time, unfortunately I can't tell you how you feel, the best I can do is guess...

Note: some of these dream symbols may turn out to have some basis I am not saying they're all completely illegitimate, however I suspect many have purely been coincidental at some time...

  5. I think dreams are just...things you're imagining while you're sleeping (=...I doubt they say anything about the future.

  6. Some dreams may have a meaning, and others may not. If the dream is totally random and pretty much impossible, then it probably isn't going to be telling the future. I don't think you should listen to a dream dictionary though, it never helped me.
