  1. Only in the pits, I believe.  That is the only time they are actually standing still, ok, stopped.

  2. The clutch is used mainly for the pits. Other than that they just match the RPMs perfectly, and slap it into gear.

  3. Yes except on road courses where the have an automatic clutch. This allows them to shift but be wide open at the same time.

  4. I'm not 100% sure but I would have too say no they do not. I drive stick shift and there are lots of times I don't have to use the clutch. Final Answer! LOL  =o`)

  5. only when completely stopped

  6. I dont think they do Tom. I could be wrong but Im pretty sure Ive heard them say they didnt.

  7. No, they rarely use the clutch at all.  All they usually will do is let off the gas for a split second and shift.

  8. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they don't. Trying not to spin the tires, they give it some gas and shift.

  9. No.

  10. Since they are rolling restarts there would be no need to clutch it. Seems to me they would find the appropriate gear and just properly apply  the gas trying not to spin the tires.

  11. i think that is really the only time they use them besides maybe in the pits
