Do drummers from metal bands make mistakes while performing?

Is it possible for even the most experienced drummer to get every note and beat correct? Do they frequently make mistakes since it's almost impossible to remember every exact note for a range of different songs?

  1. Everyone makes mistakes... except neil peart but then again rush isnt metal.

  2. I'm sure they do, but everyone would be too hyped up to even notice.

  3. everyone makes mistakes.

i remember an interview with some of the guys from napalm death where they said something like, "...we didn't mean to be the fastest band in the world or anything. it's just easier to hide your mistakes that way."

  4. Experienced drummers seem like they do not make mistakes because they never follow the music exactly, most drummers, and not just drummers all musicians improvise because they know music and they know what they're doing, that's what makes them original.

  5. i was the drummer in a band but we broke up we were pretty terrible but i didnt make that many mistakes but we played guns n roses and aerosmith covers so those beats are pretty easy but it dependes what kind of metal you mean because there is a lot of different kinds of metal but they probably do make a few mistakes

  6. Yes, everyone makes mistakes from time to time.  BUT most likely the mistake would be too small for anyone to even notice or would be easily covered up by all the other instruments/noise.
