Do drunk drivers who are in an accident go to jail after their recovery?

After a drunk driver's in an accident and is damaged, When they recover do they go to jail? I'm typing a novella, about that and need an informative answer possibly from a person who knows or a former or current lawyer?

depends on how intoxicated they are.  if they were in an accident and there were injuries, they have to atleast go to the hospital to get medically clear before being taken to jail even if it is just a few scratches.  if there are major injuries... the jail dont want to deal with them and they will probably be going to court befor they go to jail.  either way,.... they will do jail time whether it be immediately or after the complaint is written and they go to court.  hope that helped you.
