Do dvr's take out commercials or can you only fast forward through them.?

  1. They sadly do not take out commercials.  Also even worse you cannot fast foward through them with the DVR.  But you can rewind.  If the TV show is recorded and you go to watch it again on your DVR then you can fast foward through the commericals.  I have a DVR and I really wish they would make it to where you can fast foward through the commercials without them being recorded.


  2. They don't take them out but only allow you to fast forward through them.

    I actually have both the Tivo and the Comcast DVR's and neither removes commercials. I would LOVE it if they did though. But it's not that bad. I can zip through them quite fast. I can take a 1 hour show to 40 minutes of actual run time just by zipping through the commercials.

  3. Nope, I don't know of any DVRs that automatically zaps commercials.  However, I have a Dish Network DVR and it has a special button that jumps 30 seconds ahead which pretty much jumps over most commercials.  If there are three commercials in a break, hit the button three times and bingo!
