Do dwarf hamsters get lonely?

im thinking bout getting a dwarf hamster and i read on a couple of sites that they can get lonely should i buy one or two??? idk cuz if it gets lonely i want it to have a friend but if the pet store dont get the gender right i could have tons of frkin babys!!! HELP!!

no. hamsters are loners, they like to be alone. and if you have more than one in the same cage a lot of fights tend to break out.

As long as you play with it daily then a dwarf hamster should be fine on it's own. If you do decide to get a pair you are more likely to get an accurate sexing of the animals if you get a pair of males rather than females.

Once you get a single dwarf hamster and have had it for a couple of weeks it is inadvisable to introduce another to the cage as they are quite terratorial animals.

dwarf hamsters are more social than the larger hamsters, but in general hamsters are strictly solitary. if your hamster is a boy, you can forget about getting him a friend. it is very hard to introduce hamsters, so i would not worry about your hamster.

no, don't worry, the hamsters won't get lonely. the thing with dwarf hamsters is that you CAN have two, and they won't fight or anything (as long as they lived in the same cage in the store, too) and it's not likely to get two of different genders, because usually at the pet stores females live in the same cage as females, and same with males.

just make sure to always spend a little time each day with your pet hammy :)

i work at a place that  breed dwarf hamsters and they can get lonely but i have had one and he was ok living on his own. but you can get two of the same s*x and they will live happily together

They could, but like someone said, if you handle them every day, they should be fine.

If you do decide to get two, learn to s*x them, make sure you get the same gender.

dwarf hampsters get lonely yes, but if you hold them alot and play with them they will be okay just make sure they are happy and they will be okay.
