Do electronics batteries last longer if when you first get them, you charge them fully before the first use?

i have heard this, and i had used my phone and pretty much everything before i fully charged them, does that deplete battery life?

  1. Usually, yes......but that depends on the battery technology, the chemicals inside....

    Li-Ion batteries do not have a memory effect, so this is not exactly true with li-ion batteries.

    The only thing that is universal is that the battery should be discharged fully every time and charged every time for a full cycle.

    Additionally.....

    Nickel batteries require cramming....which is a procudure known as charging and freezing to keep the battery life the longest and the discharge the slowest.

    The inverse is true with li-ion batteries. Their capacity is actually degraded in cold temperatures.....
