Do employers choose college grads over high school grads? and why?

  1. more schooling shows a more determined person, with a higher educational back ground, but if your a hs grad and are able to speak multiple languages you have a better chance of getting a job of a college grad who can only speak english


  2. It depends on the job. If the employer wants an employee who has less job opportunities available to them and would not expect to get a higher salary, then they would choose the high school graduate if only that level of education was necessary for the job.

    If the job required a higher ability to reason and deeper knowledge in a particular area, then of course they'd want the college graduate and would realize they had to pay them more for those attributes.

  3. Yes. A college degree shows the employer that you are capable of learning and that you have persevered through many obstacles in college and in life .  So the employer will believe that if you can handle college, then you are capable of handling and learning a new job or task that you must do for work.
