  1. No, employers have their own ideas of which unis are better than others. I don't think anyone will see it as black and white as russell group = good, not in group = bad. As someone said some unis (such as York and Durham) would probably be welcomed into the Russell group, they are the same type of uni in terms of the subjects offered and grades required, but they aren't in the group. Other unis are totally different but have some specialist areas and so degrees in certain subjects from certain unis will be well respected by employers in those areas.

  2. The Russell Group includes many, but not all of the higher rated universities. The Russell Group universities are:

    University of Birmingham

    University of Bristol

    University of Cambridge

    Cardiff University

    University of Edinburgh

    University of Glasgow

Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine

    King's College London

    University of Leeds

    University of Liverpool

London School of Economics & Political Science

    University of Manchester

    Newcastle University

    University of Nottingham

    Queen's University Belfast

    University of Oxford

    University of Sheffield

    University of Southampton

    University College London

    University of Warwick

Note that there are other universities which are very highly rated by employers, but which are not part of the Russell Group. These include:

    St Andrews

    Durham

    York

    Loughborough

    Exeter

    Leicester

    Bath

    Lancaster

    East Anglia

    Aberdeen

  3. not necessarily.  it depends on the employer.  while it's true that more graduate employers recruit from manchester than any other uni, that doesnt mean that some employers DONT favour students from non-russell group unis

id say the two most important things are getting a 2.1 or above, and having a positive enthusiastic attitude towards work

employers will be paying a lot of money to train you and then in wages, so they only want people who will work hard
