  1. Yes, they really do look at your credit score. I don't understand why this seems so bad, they would want to know if you had a criminal past. If you are going to be working with money in finance then knowing your back ground helps. If you are going to be in a position of knowing financial information but in your personal life are constantly on the verge of bankruptcy or have several leans on your house, it makes you a risk as an employee. So yes they can really not HIRE you for this, it is another method of screening the employees.

  2. No. All they look at is how you pay.

  3. I think you meant "hire" not "higher" but anyway some employer do the check as a means of security. If you plan to work at a bank they'll want to know if you're in over your head with debt. Although you're right, this doesn't mean your going to steal but it has been proven that it increases the temptation

Some employers could care less about the score and just do it to valid you are who you say you are.

  4. Not so much the score, but they read the report.

Why isn't this right?  If you have a lot of unpaid bills, it means that you are either (A) careless with your personal finances and will probably be careless with your ob responsibilities, or (B) you make promises to creditors that you don't keep and will probably lie to your employer, or (C) are in financial trouble and might try to get out by stealing from your employer.  Why shouldn't an employer want to know this?
