  1. Filing a tax return, or not, is determined by the amount of money made.  As an employee who receives a W-2 you would not be required to file a return if your income was less than $5,450 (assuming that your parents take your personal exemption of $3,500).  If you know that you will make less than that amount ($5,450) you can file a W-4 with your employer requesting Exempt Status.

  2. no dumb****

  3. do states vary, hmm

  4. yes!

even a baby the earns income has to file! (well, his parents do it for him).

  5. Yes, all taxes would be withheld including FICA and Medicare.  Unless the child chose exempt from withholding, then no additional withholding would be taken out.  Also, if the gross amount wasn't enough to withhold based on deductions, then it wouldn't be withheld either.

if the child made too much money, then they could potentially owe tax because they wouldn't get their personal deduction which was $3,400 last year.

Yes, kids would potentially have to file taxes if they met the filing requirements.

  6. YES if they are earning over a certain amount of money. It's under 14 that don't
