Question:

Do employers usually state in their ads whether they do drug testing?

I'm searching for a new job and currently smoke marijuana on a daily basis. I'd rather not quit smoking, and would prefer a job at a non-drug-free workplace. Are employers required to or do they usually state in their employment ads that they are a drug-free workplace or that they require drug testing prior to employment? Also, is it likely that the office of the county clerk would do drug testing? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

  1. I agree with pretty... do the hard-working society a favor and not intefere with the rest of us... if you must smoke, just save your money and move to Amsterdam...that is, if a pot-smoker can ever save their money

  2. Mostly every jobs requires some type of testing just to be safe from accidents.

  3. seems to me everyone does drug testing now

  4. Some do, but most don't, and they are not required to say. If an employer does drug test, you wouldnt find out until you were interviewed. I would guess that yes, the office of the county clerk would drug test as that would be a government job.

    Good luck!

  5. It depends on the employeer, my boss usually likes to bring it up in the interview so just in case someone is doing drugs they are aware we do drugs test and don't continue with the interviewing. I'm most likely sure that an office/county clerk would conduct a drug test.

You should call and just ask if they do drug tests before you apply. If they ask your name, give them a different one so that doesn't mess up your chances.

  6. No they don't usually state in their ads weather they do drug testing.

And I'm pretty sure the county clerk office would do testing. Thing is..sometimes it's just random testing during the course of the time you work there. You can be asked 1 month after starting to go for a test that same day. Not be asked for 3 months and then asked again. Not because they have doubts but simply because its randomly checked.

I don't condone marijuana but when it starts interfering with your chances of success..maybe it's time to quit

  7. :) Okay I'm not going to harass you about smoking weed it's your body, your choice this is america after all, right? People tend to forget marijuana is an excellent substance that cures a lot of various aliments.  I personally use  to smoke however I don't anymore. I think I would if I got sick.. okay enough blah blah blahing if they do test you here is a handy little item every pot head needs.

Urine Luck sold on the web or at your local head shop.

    Good luck!!

  8. They don't HAVE to include that information. They can just have you come in for the interview upon which they will then tell you if you have to take one or not.

Have you ever heard of cranberry apple pills? just let me know if you'd like more info.

EVen if you do have to stop if only to pass a test, you shouldn't have to stop for more than two or so weeks ( contrary to the 30 days people say).. as long as you down a gallon of water a day and sweat your *** off. it matter too, how heavy you are.

  9. You should just assume that all places will drug test. If you smoke weed on a daily basis and are not willing to quit, you should just do the rest of the working population a favor and not apply.

  10. They don't have to state it in their ads but when you go to the interview they have to tell you and you have to sign a consent form to be tested.

Any state or Federal job requires drug test and background check.

  11. No.  Additionally, I would say its safe to say that most employers don't do drug testing.  However the county clerk position I would think it could be a strong possibility, since it is probably state/federal funded?  Just call and ask.

  12. no

  13. They do not have to state anywhere they do drug testing but, for any government job, drug testing is required.  Get off the pot and you won't have to worry.

  14. No, they wouldn't normally say it in their ad, although they do occasionally.  Almost all government jobs would though, as well as a high percentage of private companies.

  15. nope

  16. employers are not required to state this info in their ads but some do. this way neither one of you waste your  time if is IS a drug free workplace. most places cannot have the insurance liability to have drug users employed because if you are impared theres a risk of accidents happening even more frequently than normal.county clerks are thru the state and most likely will drug test.hope this helps.
