  1. I've seen some CFL's that come in natural daylight as well as other tones. I tend to buy name brand, GE or Phillips, they seem to last longer and have a better light quality.

Don't forget CFL's are not designed to be used with dimmer switches.

  2. In the past 5 yrs I have replaced all of my bulbs with energy saving ones.  I have experienced the dirty yellow light you are talking about.  I have found others that are not this way.  I bought various brands and chose to install those less than friendly lighting ones in places I don't need bright light, like a closet or the basement.  There are different ones for different applications, the 1st website below explains which ones are best used in different situations.  The second is a great site which explains the differences and what all of the terminology is associated with energy saving bulbs, very informative! and talks about the color issues you and I have experienced.  Kudos for you for making the change! :)Trudi

  3. A few companies are starting to market coolored CFLs. Check around on the Internet or call a home supply store like Home Depot or Lowes. They're still not marketed widely, though--so it may take some digging to find a dealer. I don't have a web link for you--sorry. But I have seen ads--they are out there.

  4. All of the the ones that I have installed have a clear bright white light, it could be that it is the brand of lights that you have bought.

mine are Sylvania brand and I am quite happy with them, and with the saving on my utility bill.
