  1. I've flown plenty of times, and I have never had to remove them when going through security.  I guess its possible that they might set off the metal detector depending on what they're made of, in which case you would probably have to pass them through the x-ray machine, but I've never had that problem.


  2. As a general rule of thumb, No they don't need to be removed.

    I have been asked to remove them and put them in a bowl when the sensor went off!

    Remember it is for all of our safety, these little inconveniences.

  3. Not as a rule, no.  If the metal in them sets off the arch, they may ask you to put them in the bowl.
