I'm going to Europe next week for a school trip and I was wondering if what Americans wear is much different from European teenage girls wear? I'm going to Spain, Germany, France and Italy. Any advice or help would be appreciated! Anything from jewelry, to shirts, skirts, shorts or make-up.

Thanks!! :)

I'm also wondering, what are the feelings toward the U.S.? I mean, as foreigners there, would we be viewed nicely, or is there still discontent coursing towards Americans?

  1. There are no major differences, sometimes you can notice no difference at all. Fashion trends in the 21st century are quite global. Especially Europe and U.S are very similar in trends.

U.S travelers are welcome in Europe and l am sure you won't face any problems.

Note: In Italy , especially in Rome and Milano people dress very well!!!

  2. You must wear GUCCi and Prada in europe.  nothing from walmart and the likes.

  3. My friend lives in America and when she and her teenage kids visit Germany I can't see any difference in their clothes! As you'll travel a lot in Europe you should prefer more comfortable clothes and not so much jewelry. There are a lot of American tourists visiting the town I live and they are all nice and friendly...and so we treat them nice and friendly too.

  4. I find that Europeans dress a little classier in general, and the teenagers have a somewhat edgier style. All my European friends seem to have a much more extensive "clubbing" wardrobe as well.

Something like khaki shorts and a hot pink t-shirt that advertises the name of your college with matching pink flip flops will make you stand out as being an American tourist. I think something like a bold mini-skirt and a tanktop with an interesting print/ details and kitten heels would fit in more.

There are some great European clothing stores that have "crossed the pond," among them are H&M, Mango, and Zara. If you're live in a bigger city, you may be able to find one. Otherwise, check out the links to see their styles.

As far as the European sentiment towards Americans, I think they mostly just hate President Bush, not necessarily all Americans. Though some might hold certain stereotypes about Americans, most Europeans are very welcoming towards the individual Americans they encounter.
