  1. Purchase from supply house.

  2. probably heinz or they buy the packages all ready.  If you notice when you get the small packages they say the company name.

  3. no i think they buy it from different places

  4. They come prepackaged that way from Heinz or whatever company they get it from with the logos that McDonald's or whatever company asks for.  It would take way too long for McDonald's to repackage it. They do it for them, otherwise they know they can lose them to a competor.

  5. The majority of fast food restaurants contract with a manufacturer to supply their ketchup. The manufacturer will also custom package the product in "pillow-paks" as the packets are known in the industry, or small tubs. Often the manufacturer's brand name is also featured on the package. Sometimes after, the ingredients you will see, "manufactured by (brand name) exclusively for (fast food name)."

  6. No, they come pre-packaged.

  7. Not usually, they just order in bulk from a company.

  8. Jack In The Box used to have Ketchup from Heinz but now it has their name on the packet. Carl's Jr./Hardee's get their Ketchup from Heinz and they have their name on the back.

  9. Companies bid to make a certain contract. Say McD's wants 1 million packets of ketchup supplied to their east coast distribution center in the 3rd quarter of 2008.

Whoever can make it to the specification is welcome to bid. Low bid usually wins. Everything they buy is on a contract. Every contract has competing bids. This is the chain store way of doing business. The contractor may or may not be allowed to co-brand.
