Do fat cats consume more food

I would think so. I mean, if you were eating  several pounds of food a day, you'd get fat to right? If you're cat is overweight, contact your vet and see what you should do to get your cat back to the healthy size. Obesity in cats is just as bad as it is in humans.

as with humans, if cats eat the wrong kinds of foods, they will become fat.  We need to eat fruits, veggies, whole grains and some healthy fats.  Cats need meat and fat.  period.  If you look on the side of the food you are feeding it, it is probably filled with all kinds of fillers, either grains and corn or if it is a 'premium' brand, then it is fruits and veggies and rice as well as grains and corn.  Thus your kitty is getting a lof of stuff he doesn't need to get the nutriants he does... and when you do that your body produces fat.. so does a kitty.
