Do fat people float more easily on water?

I am fatso.but i was impressed by the i learnt swimming this summer faster than the others. there were many other big momas who impressed me , when they could swim very easily with much less effort than others . these observations has made me ask this question?

  1. You'd think they sink but it all depends on the amount of fat and the bone structure and bodily stuff. Everyone can float basically!

  3. fat is less dense than water so yea, people with more body fat do tend to float easier than people with less. however you have to take into consideration, Muscle to fat ratio and bone density. and there are more tactful ways to ask that question.

    Bone and muscle are more dense; therefore, they sink.

    Fatty tissue is less dense; therefore, it floats.

  5. i am over weight and i am not fast but i am pretty average...and i have discovered that to keep up with the others on my team, i have to be stronger than them since they are smaller than me. when doing freestyle, it is harder for me to keep up, but when we are swimming fly, it is esier because i am strong and you dont have to be thin to swim that stroke. so no i dont think fat people "float" easier.
