Do fathers go on maternity leave ?

Do they ever when the baby is born so that they can both bond and take care of it. I think they should but, have you heard of daddys doin that

  2. They can get paternity leave depending on where they work. Different employers have different rules. My husband got 2 weeks off at basic pay.  

  3. My husband had 1 week paid and then took 2 more weeks of FMLA.  So there is leave, sometimes some or all of it could be unpaid.  

  4. Most places have a Paternity leave for 1 week now for fathers to have that week at home after a baby is born.  I know my boyfriends work has it and he put in for it so he can help me out the first week after our new son comes.  

  5. Where I was working my supervisor husband did maternity leave because my supervisor couldn't do maternity leave..

  6. where i live mothers get maternity leave for 16 weeks. after that most mothers take parental leave for 36 weeks (resulting in 1 year away from work ). but parental leave can be split between both parents or taken entireley by one or the other. i am using all our parental leave but a friend of mine went back to work after her maternity leave and her husband is on parental leave instead. my partner did take 1 week off work after our son was born but he didnt have any subsidy from the gov't for it.

My husband didnt do it when my oldest was born, she was in NICU for 2 1/2 weeks, but when our youngest was born he stayed home for a week so i could get use to 2 kids, so if our toddler got up in the night he could calm her down, and help pay attention to the older child

  9. My husband got one week of paternity leave, they can take up to two weeks off as per the Family medical leave act, but it's not paid.  I agree they should, but it's a personal choice as well.

It depends on their employer and how long they have worked there.  Some places will give up to a week of paid time off and some wont.  Legally they are entitled to take up to 12 weeks for FMLA (family medical leave act) but that time is unpaid and only guarantees that they still have a place in the company.
