  1. No, they only need a rooster if you plan on hatching out the eggs. Even if you have a rooster in with the hens, does not mean you cant eat the eggs. The eggs would either have to be incubated or sat on by the hen to start developing. But the rooster has no effect on whether the hen will lay eggs or not. Some breeds will lay eggs better than other breeds do.

  2. no no and NO .......chickens will lay eggs naturally .. when they reach around 6 months old..

you only need a rooster to mate with a female ..for BREEDING and reproduction not for the eggs ..that happens anyway

  3. No.....   chickens lay eggs......     most breeds will lay one egg approximately every other day (some breeds more often)......    the rooster only serves to fertilize the egg to help create chicks......    however, if you do have a rooster, you can still eat the eggs despite what some people believe......   just make sure you refrigerate the eggs the day you collect them and the embryo will never develop!!!

  4. no,she can make eggs without the male chicken but they wont be fertile

  5. yes, that's how the egg gets fertilised, if it's not then it's just like an egg you eat! chickens are remarkable because they can p**p from the same tunnell, shall we say, as they lay eggs! and all chickens are female, roosters are the males.

  6. No, they need to in order to make fertilized eggs. Eggs will come out anyway, they just won't be fertilized, so no chick will be hatched from them.

  7. no the hens will lay eggs

a rooster has to be in the same cage if you want it to have babys

  8. Nope they just need the male to fertilize the egg. Kinda like human females. While humans do not lay eggs the female body still produces them. Thats why women have monthly periods to cleanse the body of unused eggs.

  9. Female chickens can prouduce eggs on their own without mating...but there is no baby chick in these eggs...these are the eggs we eat. In order to have a baby chick, a female has to mate with a male.

  10. No, they will lay eggs anyway with or without a rooster. Just like women have eggs with or without guys.

it just takes the male of the species to fertilize the eggs.

If the laid eggs are fertilized she will sit on the nest and hatch them.  If you are going to eat the eggs don't let the chicken sit on the eggs.
