Do female hamsters have periods?

some of u said not 1 other animal besides us have periods & that is wrong cuz I talked to a vet about dogs having periods & he said they do have periods. P.S. u don't have to worry cuz I don't have a hamster I just wanted to know before I get a hamster.

  2. Dogs do not have periods they have heat cycles. He was probably explaining it to you in terms you'd better understand. Heat cycles are not the same as periods.

    Anyway, no, hamsters don't have periods and if your hamster is bleeding it needs to see a vet.

  3. no...get her checked out, an rodents anatomy is verry different from a humans, infact not other animal from what i know can have a period.

  4. No, only the males do; females molt their fur just in time for mating season. Later they go into the "pupa" stage and later morph into a cocoon where they lay their eggs. I work in the bronx zoo in the hamster emporium and see this on a daily basis. Good luck with your pets!

  5. i have  had a female hamster and no they do not. she eathr has a desice or sumthng but u shuld tak her to a vet!   hpe i helped?

  6. No they dont, I thought this too when my hamster started bleeding from her..parts.. she ended up having some kind of cancer and had to be put to sleep.

    no, other animals, including dogs, have something that is LIKE periods(menstruation), but it's called estrous, and occurs much less often. Humans and great apes have periods cause s*x is more of a social thing than just a reproductive thing.
