Do fireman know how to swim?

It doesn't have to be compulsory...

Firemen kill fires, to do that, they need water...

They don't exactly swim on sprayed water, so I don't think there's any need

On my deprtment, most do.  not all, though.  

Those that can swim are mostly scuba certified as well.

yes they don't have to for their job but I imagine most can as they are usually well rounded

Like all people some do some don't some were taught as children some learned on they own and some don't know how.
