Question:

Do fish bite more during the spring than summer?

I've just started fishing a couple months ago. And I've been fishing at least 25 times. And all of these times I haven't gotten one bite, not even a snug on the line.

Im tired of getting skunked every day. Is this lack of fish activity due to it being summer?

  1. Fish bite when they are hungry and they eat all year long. Their metabolism varies according to the water temperature. Too hot or too cold a temperature can affect how often and when they decide to feed. Try night fishing, but take some bug spray. You can also try changing up lures or baits... or even locations. Try a new lake, pond or river. It's always fun and worth the effort. Hang in there you' re gonna start catching soon. Tight lines!

  2. All the answers are good.  Try a easy lake or river to fish so you can catch and boost your confidence.  Try going with a good fisherman for tips on how to fish and most important where to fish.  They all hold up in different places and it is a matter of finding them.  Do change baits as this might be the root of the problem. Good luck.

  3. A lot of the problem may be where you are fishing. In summer, lake and pond water, even rivers, heats up quite a bit. This causes the fish to seek out better places to hang out. Look for deeper water that has cover such as logs, sunken trees, old tires and other things that provide shade in the water. Fish right up next to those. Also, fish are going to be more active in late evening and close to dawn during summer months.

  4. you can fish anytime of the year! try new baits. talk to other fishermen for tips, and tricks. Go to a local bait shop to find out a differnt, better spot to fish. Keep trying. Plus summer time is when catfish are most active, try catfishing. Good luck, and hope you catch the big one.
