Do flies have a purpose in the world?

We all know that flies are annoying little bugs, so if they were to be extinct (which would never happen), would this change the world, what would happen, will it be like if bees were extinct.

An individual fly's only "purpose" (biologically) is to make more flies. That's all.

There is an old verse that goes like this: "The Lord in his wisdom made the fly, but then forgot to tell us why." However, as annoying as they may be, I consider them one of nature's clean-up crew, like buzzards, etc. They do serve a purpose.. I just don't want them in my house.. hummm ;)?
