  1. I have heard they gain when when they come to America because of all the processed food we consume. A couple of German exchange students told me they had gained weight while they were here but were eating less. I think you will definitely lose weight because is S.A. they have TONS of fresh fruit and seafood, which is very healthy. Also, they have great weather to motivate you to be out and about. so... hope that helps

by the way, the German girls said they ate WHOLE pizzas back home, by themselves, and were shocked when they learned were shared them. it is definitely about food quality

  2. Depends on YOU.  And on the country, and whether you like the food, or you are in a home where the person cooking just doesn't do things the way you like them (or does)

I lived in Spain for a whole year, and returned, more or less, the same weight.  but I love food.  i just walked everywhere.

  3. ...... thats......nevermind. it depends, they gain weight here mostly because of the low quality of most of our food. In Italy I know that they eat ALOT. I mean like all the time. but there food is high quality and most of it is grown there so it just depends. I just hope thats not why your going.

  4. It could go either way... If you like the food, you might gain weight. But it's possible you won't really like the food, so maybe you'll lose weight!

    Have an awesome time.

  5. I would think that you would lose weight because the food over here is pretty fattening compared to other places, and plus you might not eat as much.

  6. South American diet encorporates a lot of fruit and beans and rice into their diets. As much of our diet in North America is superly overprocessed and filled with preservatives, exchagne students leaving this area to S.America tend to lose weight. The excitement of the exchange mixed with the activity and change of scenery causes you to focus less attention on the food you're eating. Mind you, they eat very well in south america... some of the best food in the world. But again, their diet consists of a lot of fruit. A  LOTTT of it. Beans and rice. Meat is aten but is cooked leaner
