  1. No.  We used to have a program but no longer do.     Follow the link the other poster put in their post.

  2. Canada used to offer visitors from other countries the opportunity to claim all or some of the GST taxes that they paid if they had the receipts. The GST is the "Goods & Services Tax" charged by the federal government. The provincial sales taxes were not claimable.

Since April 2007, they have removed that rebate. Now, the only people able to claim it is anyone who booked a trip to Canada after 2006 and before 2007, where the trip could be taken up to the year 2009. (That means just about no one!)

Sorry but it looks like you will be being ridiculously taxed like the rest of us Canadians...Welcome to the club!   ;-)

  3. As far as I know, you will be able to get 10% GST "goods and services tax" back. But you should keep your original receipts they don't accept photocopies or credit card slips

  4. It seems that the Canadian government got rid of the visitor tax rebate last year.....sorry!

Due to the elimination of the GST/HST Visitor Rebate Program that took effect on April 1, 2007, a rebate is no longer available for the tax paid on personal goods bought after March 31, 2007

  5. only the GST

  6. You can get a refund on the GST tax (goods and services tax) but you do not get a refund on the Provincial Sales tax.  Sorry.  We here in Canada are very heavily taxed.  Helps pay for all the social services.

  7. uh--no...

  8. Not since the dollar equalized. As somebody said, we used to give back the GST. I worked in retail forever, Americans would just collect receipts and mail them in for a cheque. But not anymore no. They removed that mast year.

  9. I remember visiting Canada a few years back, I was able to receive some taxes I paid back for I think my hotel tax upon leaving the country.
