  1. yes they do but on a few occasions and some don't like it, it's not that common here (I live near paris).

  2. French and Itailans eat snails on a regular basis.  They are cooked.  They taste like shellfish (not slimy).

Oyster crude is raw oysters.  That's very common all over Europe and the U.S.

  3. I stayed in France for a month and never once saw them on a menu or ate them at my grandmother's friends and familys homes. I went back two years later for 2 weeks and same thing again. I think they are something more associated with fancy French dining, not day to day living. My family is very French and I've never even tried them. More common fare is fish, chicken, fresh fruit and veggies, cheese, bread. And not everything is cooked in butter and sauce like a lot of people think. A lot of stuff is very light and healthy. The most fattening thing I ate there were these delightful ice cream sundaes at the cafe across the street. They each had special names and different toppings, ice cream flavors, etc.

Some of the best food I've ever eaten is home cooked French food made by real Frenchmen (and women) while I stayed there.

  4. they eat snails in spain as well and they are dead and cooked and served with a brown sauce. i think they taste like earth and i do not like them but they are very popular. previous to cooking, snails are kept in a bucket for a couple of days without being fed, so they can eliminate their stomach content... i think that is gross.

  5. those are just stereotypes!

of course some french people eat snail, frogs, rabbit and horse, but it's often at the restaurant, during a special meal..

believe me, i'm a true parisian and we don't eat snails as hot dogs or pizzas... it's more like a party meal!

( but, personaly, i don't eat that kind of thing anyway.. i think it's gross too!)

  6. I use to make cooked snails in restaurant I worked in.  We put them in mushroom caps sauteed in garlic butter.  It's weird how we eat shellfish but think snails are icky.

The French also eat horse meat and tiny little birds.  To me, that is really gross...

  7. no !!

    that's tourist stuff !!

they keep the good stuff at home !!

  8. it is not justin Paris, but many european places eat snails but it is NOT common as an everyday food, say... sausages. But it is reasily available.

Yes, they are dead- they have to be cooked.

Don't taste that exciting. Lots of garlic and butter usually mask the taste.

I have eaten them.  I like them but it's nothing special.
