  1. Commercially bred Angels will be fine with just about anything you throw at them as long as it's stable.  Wild caught Angels are a bit more finicky-- some will prefer more soft, acidic water, while others come from harder, more basic streams.  Before you buy the fish, ask about the conditions they're kept in-- if it's a local store, chances are the water is almost the same as your tap water.

  2. they like soft water they are sensitive to strong water and can die quickly

  3. the fish you get now days can handle the high ph levels most people in the usa have in the wild their water in the amozon runs from nutral to ascidic

I have never had the ph level keep any fish I have had not do well or spawn

trying to adjust the ph can do more harm than leaveing it be since if you try and lower or raise it if you do not prepare the water your going to use in a water change than you will change the ph level when you do the water change

  4. i think they like soft water but theyre very sensitive to nitrate

  5. They will prefer consistency more than anything - and if you start tweaking the tank pH to suit their "preference" then what will most likely end up happening is are fluctuations in tank pH.....

That said - They seem to do well with the reasonably hard water we have where I live....
