  1. No, they are a scam! Magnets could not possibly make your car use less fuel. Magnets have no impact on the flow or chemistry of fuels.

The best way to increase mpg is to drive the same speed consistently. If the speed limit is 45 then go 45.

Try reducing weight too. Do not load up your vehicle unless you absolutely have too. Also, get rid of anything that may be weighing it down or causing excessive drag.

  2. Lol. Keep your tires up to pressure, don't carry around unnecessary items and don't accelerate hard. These are the only things that will save you fuel.

  3. no.  get a bicycle.

  4. NO, they do not. There have been umpteen of these gadgets over the last 40 years and not one has been proved to work in real life driving conditions.

The biggest fuel saver ever costs nothing - it is your right foot. Use it lightly and you will be surprised at how much you can save. Blast away from every traffic light, hang on in the intermediate gears and overtake every thing in sight and you be surprised how much fuel you are using!

When my son borrows my Peugeot 406 2 litre hdi diesel estate he averages 36mpg on exactly the same route to work as i have. I average over 51mpg!!! He is a 'sporty' driver, i am not.

  5. Nope, none of that junk works. Keep the A/C on low, and take off in 2nd (on an Auto), and plan your trips to use as much hi-way as possible.

  6. its all bull mate...forget it.

  7. Short answer, no.  They are all devices designed to scam money from people who know nothing about engines.

There are only three sure fire ways of reducing your fuel consumption:

    1)  Gentle acceleration

    2)  Gentle braking.

    3)  Correct use of the gears (don't over rev or labour the engine).

They will work - nothing else does.

  8. If you go to ebay, find my id which is nelky-opel, click on my top 1,000 reviewer tag, you can read my comments about magnetic "fuel-savers".

Basically, there is not a shred of truth to validate their working "principle".  They are marketed with a load of bull-shine.  Keep your money in your wallet.  Magnets have NO EFFECT on fuel, at all, whatsoever.

  9. In short No. You will have to learn how to drive gently, and think ahead so that you can plan your responses.

  10. Here is a list of all other scams that are claimed to increase mileage but do nothing except lighten your wallet, from magnets to hydrogen generators.
