Does anyone know if galaxies have orbits? Of so, does anyone know what they orbit around?

Thanks!

  1. A satellite galaxy orbits a larger galaxy due to gravitational attraction. Although a galaxy is made of a large number of objects (such as stars, planets, and nebulae) which are not connected to each other, it has a center of mass, which represents a weighted average (by mass) of the positions of each component object.

  2. the law of attraction is bogus.

    the law of revulsion reigns.

    orbit is fictive: all is static.

    astronomy is a b*****d science;

    celestial triangulation is unsound

    distances are unsure

    the lie concocted by astronomy, co-conspired by physics, regarding LIGHT is arrogant and malevolent.

    that is all

  3. do galaxies orbit? yes, have you seen that picture of like several galaxies close to each other (close is a general term) what could a galaxy orbit besides another galaxy?

  4. A galaxy can orbit another galaxy or galaxies through their mutual gravitational attraction upon each other, just like any other body. The Magellanic clouds orbit the Milky Way, with the Small Magellanic Cloud also orbiting the much more massive Large Magellanic Cloud. The dwarf galaxies M-32, M-110, NGC-147 and NGC-185 orbit M-31, the Andromeda Galaxy. There is evidence to suggest that M-33 also orbits M-31. In other galaxy clusters the same thing takes place.
