Do game systems cause TV discoloration?

I was informed this is why my TV is discolored.

They do cause burn-in, which appears as areas of the screen being discolored.

Tube and plasma tv's are more susceptible to this and lcd and dlp is less susceptible.

The problem is that games will leave bright areas of the screen with little movement, especially around edges and status areas (where scores, inventory, etc. type info is shown).  Eventually this will burn in.
