Local gas station, convience store refuses to sell gas or even turn the gas pump on for motorcycles, street legal motorcycles.

They claim they are not making enough profit when motorcycles only pump and purchace 1 or 2 gallons at a time.

Can they do this?

Is this happening only around where I live or other places?

Is this a new trend?

  1. no

  2. Wow. petrolstations make a buttload of profit wtf. if someone refused to sell me petrol for my motorcycle i would smash his face in and yeah to be honest i think that its illegal. its not happening here though.

Thats rediclous they wont sell you petrol lol. jesus.

  3. I suppose it might be their choice, but what would they do if 100 motorcycles showed up at once?

  4. Yes, it's perfectly legal.  A gas station is a private business and they can serve whoever they want, as long as they are not discriminating on race, ethnicity, religion, or some other protected group.  The constitution does not say that there shall be no discrimination against motorcycle riders.

  5. They can run their business any way they want, but that doesn't make it right. It's like a restaurant owner tossing someone out for not ordering an expensive enough meal.

Not everyone entering a station is going to make a large purchase. How about the customers with gas cans for their lawn mowers?

In reality, individual station owners aren't the ones making the huge profits. In fact some of them are on the brink of going belly up. The oil companies are the ones raking it in, and doing so big time.

Nonetheless, in my opinion, station owners should serve everyone, no matter what. Who knows? That motorcycle owner may also own a large gas-sucking SUV, and he most certainly won't be returning with that to a station that won't allow him to fill up his bike.

  6. I don't think it's legal...anyway, it's not happening here...maybe because we have loads of motorcyclist here...

we have petrol stations refusing the use of credit cards here

    though...

  7. Any business, whether it be a gas station, restaurant, convenience store has the right to refuses service to any one for any reason.

  8. It is a private business.  They can choose to refuse service to anyone they want.

If that is true though thats one of the dumbest things i've heard.
