I'm not g*y, I just want to know. If you get married in a state that allows g*y people to marry, if you go to another state, is it illegal, are you still married. It has been bothering me since a person randomly asked me.

  1. i think not.

  2. No it will not be recognized unless the state you move to also recognizes same s*x marriage.

  3. no

    just cali and mass.

i think some states might recognize it, not sure if any do, but i know that none of the southern states do. i'm in ga., and i know for more than a fact that we don't.

    blah

  4. California & Massachusetts recognize each others same s*x marriages as well as their own. New York also recognizes same s*x marriages performed in California and Massachusetts without recognizing same s*x marriages performed in new York.

If a married same s*x couple goes to a state that does not recognize their marriage, their marriage is not recognized by that state. Some repercussions of this are if one of them becomes ill and is hospitalized their partner can be denied hospital visitation since they are not recognized as a family member in that state & if they own property and one of them dies the partner's share of that property is taxed under an estate tax since the transfer of property is not to a legally recognized spouse.

The federal government does not recognize any same s*x marriages.
