Do getting braces hurt?

Question

I am having a dental assesment on thursday at sydney dental hospital to see if i am eligible to have dental treatment for braces.

Do they hurt?

What is the process? (please explain)

Don't listen to the first post.

It's not really painful; It's irritating, especially with kissing or eating.

sometimes when you get bumped in the mouth, you'll get a blister or something.

the only time you'll expect pain is when you get back to the dentist for an adjustment of your braces (because your teeth gets tighter, the dentist needs to retighten the brace too so as not to loosen the teeth). but it doesn't hurt that much. I actually have one too.

First they glue them on and out a dolour of your choice onto the metal bits.

It doesnt hurt much, for a couple of days when u first get them and every time you get them tightened, but the pain will go away with panadol.

When ur getting them on and stuff it doesn't hurt tho just an hour oor two afterwoods

No they do not hurt when you get the because i just got mine 2day but the list of steps are:

1st- they Clean your teeth

2nd- they put on the brackets with glue

3rd- they blast an ultra Bright light on the brackets

4th- they put in the arch that does all the work

5th- they put colors in and this may fell like they are pulling teeth but they aren't

yes they hurt a bit when they move your teeth just let them do the job on there own and you have to watch that you eat soft foods when you first get them

It depends on the orthodontist but i had braces about ten years ago and i can recall them not hurting at all going on.  When i had them removed it did hurt just a bit.  They glue them to your teeth and then the metal threads pull your teeth into place.  I'll be honest they were a pain you should ask about the new options to braces.  But they aren't really that bad and my teeth are straight so i think it was worth it.
