Question:

Do ghosts affect ambient temperature?

Is this why ghost hunters use thermometers and IR cameras?

If so, says who? What data support this assertion? What studies have been conducted that conclusively indicate ghosts in any way alter the temperature of a room or have a heat signature of any sort?

If not, then why do so many ghost hunters take temperature readings?

  1. Regardless of whether you believe that ghosts exist or not (personally I believe in them, but that is irrelevant) ghosts should logically not give off temperature.

What we humans perceive as heat is actually the movement of (sub)atomic particles being transfered from one object to another. Since ghosts have no matter, and no subatomic particles, they cannot give off heat.

Can they absorb heat? the only way anything can absorb heat if it has no matter in it is if it works as a vacuum (I know that's technically not true, but it works for these purposes)

If ghosts were mobile vacuums, the affects would be much more drastic.

  2. Cold spots have been noticed near spirit activity. Whether or not there's a connection, we need all the 'science' we can to verify spirit activity. If there was only one sighting in history of an automobile, people would want to know, and some would debunk and scoff, but that person DID see an automobile.

  3. As in your other question, there really is no data. Ghost hunters are pseudoscientists relying on baseless assumptions and ignoring contrary evidence to find ghosts

  4. More likely you would be speaking of spirits and not ghosts when the temperature changes. Small vortexes open from which energy enters and leaves this plane. Cold is the absence of heat, where these vortexes exist, the temperature drops.
