If ghosts are dead, then their brains must be dead and therefore how can they think. Is this why they wander around mindlessly?

  1. Yes, but not a physical one. They seem to be conscious creatures, but clearly not focused in the Earthly plane, or they'd have Social Security numbers. There is more spirit than physical in the universe, and much we have  to learn.

  2. mindless wandering, lack of awareness, is what they call an imprint. It is energy imprinted on the environment and replays over and over like a tape recording.

Active hauntings, where there is awareness, they show the same intelligence they had when alive.

  3. no

  4. These are good questions. Your logic is correct about the ghost brain. If ghosts exist and are spirits of dead people, they have no living body and thus no brain. How can they think? If we conjecture that ghosts think, then we have to propose that their intelligence is being stored somewhere else, in some supernatural sense. At this point it's all mysticism and handwaving. As with much (perhaps all) of the paranormal, once we get beyond one or at most two questions deep, we're already thick in conjecture and short on facts.

  5. Ghost don't need a brain. Just like they don't need a heart, blood or food.

  6. No the brain is different to the soul and ghosts are just souls.

No one can comprehend what a soul is - but it is much greater than someone's brain.  We just have to wait and find out when we die.

The reason they wander around is because they have unfinished business.

  7. The answer depends on what kind of ghost you're talking about.  One that interacts with people (i.e. EVPs) would necessarily require consciousness in order to hear, consider and respond to a question.  Those who wear Victorian dresses and climb staircases that are no longer there wouldn't need a brain to do so.

This is what bothers me about the idea that ghosts exist in the real world.  If ghosts were real then they would all have very similar behavior and properties.  As it is, there are about as many different classifications of ghosts as there are people who have seen them.  This is why I believe it is much more reasonable to assume ghosts are products of the imagination than distinct spiritual entities.

  8. ghost aren't real

  9. I have a tendancy to believe that ghosts are not real and until we die for ourselves, or have a direct experience we are not really going to know.  However my mother has promised me that when she pops off she will do her very best to come back and haunt me, so if she does I will let you know and whether or not she is still coherant!
