Do ghosts retain many of the same habits they had when alive ?

Yes.  They live in other worlds similar to the one they left.  They cannot fly, or float, either.  This is just what happens when their world moves up, or down, or through your walls.

This makes them appear to be floating, but in their world they are stationary.  It's all relative.  To them they are standing.  When a ghost is seen floating through the air, their whole world is going with them.

They may not be so much habits as they are echos. Most haunting cases are residual energy that repeats it's self over and over.

It seems to me that ghosts seem to be bound to certain place, and they do seem to follow certain patterns.  I would imagine that if someone died and stayed behind as a ghost, that it is because they experienced some trauma that prevented them from moving on.  I would imagine that they would be retracing their steps a great deal while dwelling on that pain or trauma.  If walking through doorways were a part of that routine of trauma and remembering, then I would imagine that would be common.

Yes and that is what is reffered to as an "imprint". It's like a worn-out reel of film constantly replaying itself but is not considered a haunting. It's just doing what is used to do when it was alive

According to some ghost hunters, people can leave an "imprint" of their activities while they were alive. But if this is true then why don't we ever see ghosts doing daily activities like sitting on the toilet? Think of all the time a person spends doing that during the lives. For that matter, considering all the people that have died our nights should be filled with sightings of these ghosts but they are not.

There are several types of ghosts.

Apparitions are ghosts who appear solid, partial, visible or slightly invisible. Most of the time, they are somewhat transparent and appear as they did when they were living. An apparition is aware of the living and can interact either friendly or unfriendly. They are thought to have unfinished business in this world.

Residual haunting:A haunting that happens in the same place where a scene is played over and over again by the ghosts. The scene never changes, and the ghost or ghosts are not aware of other people around them.

Vortex or funnel ghosts:A swirling vortex, looks like a puff of smoke. Misty with interesting swirls.

Shadow ghosts:shadow ghosts appear as a shadow of sorts. They look a bit like ecto-mist but are dark grey to blck in colour. In photographs, it's easy to confuse them with natural shadows, so be careful with your analysis. They are usually extremely sneaky and evasive. When they are spotted it's usually out of the corner of your eye or as they are darting through a wall. They can also be spotted as a reflection in shinny objects and mirrors. As for photography, They are one of the rarest ghost types to be captured on film. Birds and cats are especially sensitive to them.

Poltergeist:A disruptive ghost, whose activities are often violent. A poltergeist might move objects or create dangerous situations for those in a household.

Orbs:They are said to be ghosts who choose to channel their energy in the form of an orb of bright light, some of these can be different colours. Transparent orbs usually have logical explanations for their appearances.
