My fiance joined the marines.

I supported it from the start too.

But it is still very saddening, since he will be gone for boot camp.But at the same time it is very exciting.

I wouldn't ever be "mad" about him joining the armed forces unless he had gone behind my back and done it without consulting me, but since I knew about it from the start there was nothing to be mad about.

Don't forget about boys. Boys date boys. :P And boys date girls who go into the army, too.

Anyway...

I would say that they would first feel sad about it. There wouldn't be any time to be mad at your partner; especially when you know that they're gonna leave you, and you might never see them again. I know that I would probably cry myself to sleep every night, thinking about them leaving, counting the days to their departure. But I would keep good composure in front of them, just to make them feel more comfortable, and not show them the inner hurt I would probably be feeling. This sounds really dramatic, but it's kinda how I would expect most people to react.

And it really depends on how much faith the person has. If they have faith that their partner will live on to some other day, then I'm sure that'll happen! :]
