  1. Glasses help you see better, but in the long run they make your eyes weaker and you eventually have to get stronger prescriptions as you get older.

  2. Glasses do not worsen your eyesight--that is a product of age.  People just assume it does because everything seems much blurrier after they take off their glasses, but that's just a result of your eyes having to readjust.

  3. Don't wear glasses.  It's only a trick for the doctor to get money from you.

The only way to keep from wearing glasses is to refuse them from the start.

  4. no, they make it worse in the long run

  5. 20/40 vision or better is necessary for meeting driving requirements, and seeing the chalkboard, and for work.

Most people intuitively know that the longer they wear artificial corrections(glasses, contacts, lasik), the worse their vision gets. 60 to 80 percent of people in the United States have some kind of blurry vision.

Artificial corrections don't cause blurry vision directly, but they do encourage stronger and stronger incorrect vision habits in most people. They don't take away eye strain they only change in into a less painful form.

Doctors don't trick us into wearing artificial corrections, they are just doing what they are trained and don't know any better. They want to help people see clearly fast and help people who have painful eyestrain.

  6. No- they only correct your vision. As glasses can make your eyesight worse in the long run, you should only use them only when you really need them, otherwise go without.

  7. They just focus light into your eye where it needs to land for you to see clearly, so it's like a "temporary fix."

Like cici said, a lot of people think it worsens your vision because they now have clear vision to compare their blurred vision to, so it seems worse.  Others think that since they keep needing stronger prescriptions each year, the glasses must be making their eye worse when really their eyes are just naturally growing.

The only exception is that it is believed (there is evidence, but I'm not sure if it's been proven...) that if myopic (nearsighted) children wear their distance glasses for extensive nearwork (reading, homework, etc.), that their vision will worsen more.
