  1. If they are housed properly then an air pump is just an extra.  One goldfish needs a 20 gallon tank with good filtration and 10 gallons more for each extra fish.  They love live plants but the problem is they eat them so unless you want to be constantly replacing them then fake is the way to go.

  2. it really depends on how much water you have if you only have a two gallon tank then your fine if you have a 20-30 then yes you need a air pump and the gold fish will end up eating the live plants eventually so no need for them plus they add to algae growth

  3. Goldfish need space to live. They need movement so water passes over their gills so they can breath. Lowering the water level by an inch so there is more surface agitation. There is debate over whether a bubbler does good or nothing because the dissolved oxygen they give off isn't that high. Plants can help provide oxygen.
